Panorama Education is partnering with Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education to launch Panorama Student Survey as a free, open source product. Panorama Education will offer the survey free for new and existing school, school district and state education department customers.

Texas Education Agency approves SPARK Coordinated School Health program

SPARK was selected by the Texas Education Agency as one of three state-approved Coordinated School Health programs for K8 students. The SPARK program gives districts tools to provide physical education and physical activity, as well as health education and nutrition education.

LearnZillion releases Common Core-aligned lesson plans

More than 750 free, standards-aligned lesson plans in math and English language arts have been added to LearnZillion's offerings. The new lesson plans, designed for use on any web-connected device, were created by LearnZillion's Dream Team of teachers recruited from 42 states.

Seventh largest district adopts Follett’s Destiny Library Manager

Houston Independent School District has adopted Follett’s Destiny Library Manager for its new centralized, integrated library management solution. Destiny Library Manager will be implemented later this year throughout the 212,000-student district, which is comprised of 86 certified libraries and 282 campuses.

Capstone has acquired the assets of Engage Literacy, a comprehensive K3 literacy program, from Australian-based Hinkler Education. Engage Literacy focuses on written and oral language, including leveled readers with fiction and non-fiction texts paired by theme and level.

The Future of Privacy Forum unveiled a new resource website,, which will provide parents, school officials, policymakers and service providers access to laws, standards and guidelines to better understand student privacy issues.

Spellex releases new type font for those with dyslexia

Spellex Corporation announced the DysLex font for dyslexia as the newest addition to their line of speech recognition and spell checking software for the learning disabled. Every letter in the DysLex character set is graphically designed with attributes that eliminate or greatly reduce the difficulty in character interpretation.

Sprite Kids introduces Speaktacular Sight Words

Sprite Kids launched Speaktacular Sight Words, which is available exclusively for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, as an app that allows kindergarten through third grade children to use their own voices to recognize and properly pronounce words from three unique word lists critical to reading development.

Mobile County system rolls out state's first propane autogas bus fleet

The Alabama district has purchased 30 buses that will use propane autogas instead of diesel fuel. The Blue Bird Propane Vision buses, which use Rousch CleanTech autogas fuel systems, are projected to reduce the system's fuel and maintenance costs.
