Medford district buys 1,800 Chromebooks for new English curriculum

In Oregon, Medford's board adopted a new English language arts curriculum that included the purchase of 1,800 Dell Google Chromebooks for about $1.09 million. The hardware will be used to power the 2015 Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Collections blended learning program. Students will be able to access the curriculum on the new Chromebooks in class and from other devices outside of class.

New York district signs with Tightrope Media Systems

Binghamton School District will be using digital signage technology from Tightrope Media Systems to deliver information inside the school and over the web. Using Tightrope’s Carousel digital signage solution, the school will broadcast feeds on classroom SMART Boards and large monitors, which will also be replicated on the school’s website.

ACT debuts enhancements to ACT test

Starting in 2015, new indicators will be reported to students who take the ACT in addition to the traditional ACT scores and ACT College Readiness Benchmarks. The indicators will describe student performance and predicted readiness levels in categories such as STEM, career readiness, English language arts and text complexity.

Isygames teaches heart-lung anatomy with new educational app

Isygames released the Heart and Lungs Lab app for iPad. Combining interactive play with deep learning, the intuitive app promotes exploration of the physiology behind the heart and lungs with tactile interaction (including tap, drag and drop), detailed images and animation.

PresenceLearning’s services added to Louisiana state's course catalog

To supplement special education services in Louisiana, the state’s Supplemental Course Academy has added PresenceLearning’s online speech and occupational therapy services to its course catalog. Students can register for year- or semester-long services to receive speech and occupational therapy funded through their Supplemental Course Allocation.
