After successfully implementing the Fast ForWord® program at the middle school level for more than three years, Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas has expanded its implementation to include all elementary schools as well. This year, the district rolled out the Fast ForWord online reading intervention to 15 elementary schools.

With the Excellent Educators for New Jersey (EE4NJ) framework, the state of New Jersey is working to improve teacher quality and student outcomes using a new system for educator evaluations. The evaluation system, which must be implemented in all districts in 2013-14, is composed of equal parts teacher practice and direct measures of student achievement.

Blackboard Inc. has unveiled a new release of its flagship learning management system (LMS) that includes a tool to help instructors identify and engage at-risk students based on course activity patterns that correlate with student success. The feature makes it easier for instructors with limited time to find effective ways to improve student retention and outcomes.
