Newly formed assessment board taps provider to lead

Open Assessment Technologies S.A.—an Open Source assessment platform provider—will head up the new IMS Executive Board on Assessment. The organization seeks to accelerate the adoption of e-assessment solutions by establishing strong interoperability between assessment content and platforms.

One of largest high school districts selects Edgenuity

Phoenix Union High School District has selected the company as their primary online and blended learning solution to provide access to its full curriculum and offer Blended Learning and Blended Learning Services to the district’s 16 schools and over 27,000 students.

Indiana district and university partner to train future principals

The state's largest K12 school district, Indianapolis Public Schools, is partnering with Marian University to train current teachers to become successful principals and school administrators. It is committing to enroll as many as 30 current teachers per year  for the next five years in an administrator graduate degree program.

$2.5 million grant provides mini-grants to 11 school districts

AASA, The School Superintendents Association, announced that breakfast will become available to more than 288,000 students in nearly 400 schools across the nation through a grant from the Walmart Foundation. It is part of $10.5 million in grants that the foundation is giving this fall to support school feeding and nutrition education programs.

New name and investment to foster entrepreneurship

In addition to changing its name to NAF, the National Academy Foundation announced that Citi Foundation has made a $3.2 million, five-year investment to the Future Ready Innovation Fund. In its first year, the funding will support expanding entrepreneurship training in NAF schools through the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship.

The new software system from Hayes Software Systems will help the second largest school district in Arizona achieve greater inventory oversight and increase inventory management accuracy for its more than 26,000 district-owned assets with a districtwide rollout to its 94 school locations.

St. Charles Parish Public Schools is using SchoolDude's CrisisManager mobile app to give teachers, staff and parents access to critical school safety guides and emergency response plans via their mobile devices.
