Motorola Solutions and Chardon Area Schools launched the SchoolSAFE Solution, which provides an instantaneous link to first responders in an emergency. The software enables interoperable radio communications between school personnel and first responders in compliance with National Incident Management System guidelines.

The FCC issued a Public Notice revealing E-rate program reform actions under consideration, including a one-time targeted support for schools and libraries that lag behind in broadband connectivity. New York Life Foundation announced a $4 million grant to After-School All-Stars, a nonprofit providing year-round, school-based, afterschool programs. The four-year grant will be used to support expansion to serve middle school youth in six new cities.
