Lions Club helps schools rebuild with sound investment after tornado

When an EF5 tornado swept through Moore, Okla., last year, the storm leveled two elementary schools: Briarwood and Plaza Towers. Now the Lions of Oklahoma are helping the schools rebuild. They recently replaced all of Lightspeed Technologies' Redcat classroom audio systems both schools had before the storm.

Frenship ISD leads HB5 preparedness with iCEV implementation

CEV Multimedia and Frenship Independent School District (FISD) announced a pilot program that assists the district's preparation for Texas House Bill 5. Counselors and educators at FISD will use iCEV, an online platform that produces and delivers comprehensive educational content, to guide students through the new process of choosing endorsement areas of study.

Extron Electronics debuts new Cable Cubby Series/2 versions

Extron Electronics has released new versions of all four of its Extron Cable Cubby Series/2 enclosures for AV connectivity and AC power. The Cable Cubby Series/2 includes the compact Cable Cubby 500, the mid-size Cable Cubby 700, the slim, low profile Cable Cubby 1200, and the double-sided, Cable Cubby 1400.

Kids InfoBits database launches redesign

The Kids InfoBits database has been redesigned with a modern interface, improved navigation, updated content and additional tools. Developed by Gale, Kids InfoBits is designed for students in kindergarten through grade five and addresses the way kids learn and conduct research.

Learning Upgrade unveils new math course

Learning Upgrade is releasing Math Upgrade 7, a course of multimedia, Common Core-aligned math lessons. The course includes an initial set of 50 lessons, with additional lessons added during the summer. Each full course takes students 20-25 hours, both in the classroom and at home, to complete and earn a certificate.

Arizona chooses Blackboard for professional learning platform

The Arizona Department of Education (ADE) has selected Blackboard to deliver its Innovative Classroom solution for professional learning and collaboration for the department's over 60,000 educators in more than 2,000 public schools.

Updated tool lets users compare states on education

A new digital educational tool created by the National Science Foundation's National Science Board enables educators, administrators, researchers and policymakers to compare educational and economic trends at the state level. The tool manipulates data from the 2014 NSB "Science and Engineering Indicators" report.

New York literacy pilot launched to improve college and career readiness

Teachers at 25 schools throughout New York are participating in an 18-month literacy pilot designed to improve college and career readiness for all students. This professional development model will be built by the myON team, in partnership with the New York Institute of Technology, the NY State Teacher Centers and their associated BOCES.

Students explore the rainforest with new nonfiction book
