The SnapKeys partnership with OCPS is a unique and successful one that has brought much needed digital resources to area schools. SnapKeys hopes to implement the Si Evolution keyboard in many more OCPS schools in the future.

The data show that among the state's largest school districts, San Diego Unified has the top scores in English Language Arts and NCLB Science; San Francisco and Garden Grove are the next in line. Other large districts used in the comparison are those in Los Angeles, Long Beach, Fresno, San Bernardino, Sacramento and Oakland.

ASCD, the global leader in providing programs, products, and services that empower educators to support the success of each learner, has been awarded a two-year grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to provide educators with free, ongoing virtual professional development (PD) trainings on the instructional shifts of the Common Core State Standards.

During an awards ceremony Tuesday night at BBVA Compass Plaza, Westside High School graduates Alex Suryapranata and Mateo Valencia, along with Sharpstown International School graduate Dora "Edith" Almazan, each received a $5,000 scholarship after completing a financial education course in high school. All three recipients plan to attend the University of Texas at Austin.
