Milton Kuykendall, superintendent of DeSoto County Schools for the past 12 years, will retire when his term expires in December 2015. The superintendent in DeSoto County is an elected position.

The next superintendent of Fox schools will be Jim Wipke. Wipke is the executive director of secondary schools for the Rockwood School District. The Fox board also approved a tighter anti-nepotism policy that would bar the hiring of relatives of board members, the superintendent and assistant superintendents.

After five years at the helm of the Arizona district, Superintendent Paul Stanton may be leaving the district at the end of the school year to take the superintendent position in Phoenix's Washington Elementary School District, pending approval by both districts' governing boards.

Jeffrey Jensen, currently the superintendent of Creighton Community Public Schools, has accepted the Nebraska district's superintendent position. The previous superintendent, Candace Conradt, resigned in June after a year of controversy in the district.

Paul Casciano, who became superintendent of the New York school district eight years ago at one of the most tumultuous times in its 181-year history, will retire at the end of the school year. The longtime educator has more than 40 years in the district as a student, teacher, principal and its top official.

The largest county in Texas's board of education has chosen James Colbert, Jr. as its new school superintendent. Since 2011, Colbert has been superintendent of West Orange-Cove Consolidated ISD in Orange, Texas.

Leila W. Williams has been appointed the new superintendent of the South Carolina school district. She has 35 years of experience as an educator, including 19 years of educational leadership at the district level in the Colleton County School District.

Andy Craig, who has been Hoover's school superintendent for eight years, has agreed to become Alabama Department of Education's new deputy superintendent for administrative and financial services. Elmore County Superintendent Jeff Langham will leave his position of nine years to start as the state's assistant superintendent for external and governmental affairs.
