Houston County's board has named Mark Scott, former Northside High School principal and currently the assistant superintendent for human resources, as their choice to be their next superintendent. The board votes again on April 8 once his contract has been finalized to make the appointment official.

On April 18, Dr. Dennis Haddock will mark the close of nine years with the Lakewood School District and 33 years in K12 public education. After serving as assistant superintendent of the district for three years, Haddock was selected as superintendent in 2008.

Clovis Municipal Schools Superintendent Terry Myers will be leaving the district at the end of the current school year to take over as the new superintendent at Texas' Crockett Independent School District as of July 1.

Lewis-Palmer School District 38 has chosen a new superintendent. The D-38 board voted unanimously to hire Karen Brofft, assistant superintendent of Englewood Schools near Denver, for the top job.

Virginia's Superintendent of Public Instruction, Patricia Wright, will retire from that post May 1. Wright, a veteran of the state education department, has been serving as the state's schools chief under three governors.

Incoming Gilbert Public Schools Superintendent Christina Kishimoto officially signed a 3-year contract to begin July 1. She currently serves in the same role for the Hartford Public Schools district in Connecticut.

Michael Popp, a 24-year veteran of Indian Prairie School District 204, was selected as East Aurora School District’s next superintendent less than two weeks after the board’s first choice reversed his decision to accept the superintendent position.
