Writers and Public Relations Guidelines
Who we are
District Administration is the magazine of K12 education leadership for district-level decision makers. Each issue reaches the key leadership in every school district in the country, including superintendents, assistant superintendents, business officers, purchasing managers, technology directors, curriculum directors, library/media center directors, federal funds administrators, as well as school board members and key officials in state and federal departments of education.
The magazine covers current trends and pressing issues in the K12 education industry along with strong coverage of emerging technologies, leadership issues and management strategies. District Administration is a B to B publication with an emphasis on solid journalistic reporting. The magazine is mailed ten times a year. More than 73,000 top-level education executives receive each issue, and additional copies are distributed nationally at key education events and trade shows. Advertisers have no advantage in editorial coverage, and editorial decisions are based solely on the value of information to our readers.
DistrictAdministration.com is your online source for additional information on topics covered in the magazine, archived content, and original content. The New Products database offers a full array of the best products and services for districts nationwide and is the basis for selecting our annual "Top 100 Products." Our free Leadership Series Web Seminars cover a full spectrum of topics that keep readers "in the know." Executive Job Listings keep you connected to changes in district leadership as well as offer potential new opportunities.
DA Daily is our opt-in electronic newsletter with a digest of each day’s important K12 news headlines from around the nation.
Editorial Calendar lists upcoming content to be covered by issue month.
How to submit story ideas and press releases
The best way to understand the types of stories and styles that we publish is to read the most recent issues of our articles in print or on our Web site. We prefer that you send a brief and focused e-mail with your story suggestion, including school district examples, before sending manuscripts. We encourage professional opinions from educational leaders and expert reports in our core content areas, which include administration and finance, technology, curriculum, facilities and construction, school security, and standards and assessments. District Administration also has an Editorial Advisory Panel for which we welcome your nominations.
Article lead times
Feature articles are usually assigned 4 months ahead of the issue date; opinion pieces may be submitted at any time. Please allow 4-6 weeks for responses to story suggestions.
