Enhancing Small Group Instruction Through Technology

Educators are looking for ways to create dynamic, collaborative and project-based learning environments which foster higher level thinking in students. But what is often overlooked is the crucial role that audio plays in creating this environment effectively. Students need to communicate clearly with one another and their teachers; teachers need to communicate clearly in order to become co-learners with students as they construct their knowledge, and must be able to accurately assess levels of student comprehension.

Attend this web seminar to hear from Sheryl Abshire, CTO and 4th grade teacher Ashleigh Shulz, each from the Calcasieu Parish Public Schools in Lake Charles, Louisiana, about how they have used new technology to enhance small group instruction, help their district meet Common Core requirements and create more collaborative learning environments.

Topics will include:

  • Creating a learning environment where teachers and students are partners in co-constructing knowledge
  • Fostering student collaboration
  • How teachers can manage multiple layers of learning in the classroom
  • How Calcasieu Parish is using the new Flexcat system in classrooms
