Desktop PC/Workstation, Hardware, Starting at $599

HP’s new AMD Opteron processor-based, quad-core model offers the performance of a workstation at the cost of a PC. The Opteron processor offers enhanced power management and virtualization capabilities, as well as the overall system efficiency and flexibility of AMD’s Direct Connect Architecture. All models also include an integrated ATI Radeon X1250 graphics card, and options include up to 4GB of SDRAM and up to a 250GB hard drive. This model is also a registered EPEAT Gold product for environmental friendliness, is 90 percent recyclable by weight, includes a highly efficient 80 PLUS energy supply, and incorporates a tool-less chassis design to allow for easy hardware upgrades.



Lighting Solution and Curriculum, Facilities, Pricing varies based on installation

Lutron’s Greenovation is a unique program that combines school facility lighting solutions with supplemental online science and math lessons. Starting with the installation of energy-saving lighting products from Lutron’s Balance LCline, the program also incorporates an energy usage data box and light level sensors to reach a possible combined energy savings of 60 percent from traditional lighting. Educators can then use online, standards-based multimedia Greenovation lessons, which use the lighting as illustrations in teaching the concepts of energy, sunlight, light and color, electricity, waveforms and more.



Computer Cart, Facilities, $2,595

Multimedia cart manufacturer Bretford has responded to the popularity in schools of subcompact laptops, or netbooks, with its new NETBOOK32. This wheeled, portable cart can accommodate 32 netbooks on two shelves with eight compartments on each. A 32-outlet UL electrical system has an automatic timercharger unit to charge all netbooks onboard simultaneously using one circuit. A large working surface and four additional outlets on top of the unit allow for additional devices for presentations.


E-rate Manager for Applicants

Funds For Learning has expanded its E-rate Manager for Applicants with the recent addition of the Form 470 Wizard, an enhancement that enables school administrators to apply for E-rate funding entirely online. The Wizard guides users through every aspect of Form 470, the first form to be filed. Other products in this online suite enable administrators to stay current with fluctuating deadlines and paperwork, track remaining E-rate funding, monitor sites where funding is used, and respond to E-rate program auditors.


Vision 6.8

Classroom Management Program, Software, $999 for 30-user classroom kit

GenevaLogic’s Vision enables educators to have complete control over the student computers in their classrooms from a console that displays each screen. Teachers can demonstrate lessons directly on student screens, supervise computer use, monitor online activity, and lock keyboards and mice to focus attention. Version 6.8 also includes a unique application: Vision Hand, which allows teachers to control classroom computers from a wireless device.
