The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation

Austin, Texas

This foundation aims to improve the lives of children living in urban poverty nationwide by funding programs that focus on performance-driven education, college preparation and completion, quality school options and academic and after-school programs. The foundation has committed more than $650 million to global initiatives.

The Walton Family Foundation

Bentonville, Ark.

The strategy is to infuse competitive pressure into the K12 system by increasing the quantity and quality of school choices available to parents, especially in low-income communities. The foundation invested more than $159 million in education reform initiatives in 2011 and grants were given to organizations that empower parents to choose quality, publicly-funded schools.

Ford Motor Company Fund & Community Services

Dearborn, Mich.

Education is a top priority of the Ford Motor Company Fund and more than $1 million in scholarships are provided by Ford each year. The fund’s team supports various initiatives, such as scholarship and volunteer programs, to improve the quality of life within school communities.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation

Atlanta, Ga.

The scholars foundation celebrates young people who want to make the world a better place through civic engagement, community service, and enlightened leadership.  The foundation awards $3 million annually to high school seniors, has provided more than 5,000 students nationwide with nearly $48 million in scholarships, and also supports 350 civic-minded students attending two-year colleges through the Coca-Cola All-Academic Team and Leaders of Promise Scholarships.
