Data-driven decision-making

Andover Public Schools, Andover, Massachusetts

Challenge: Students struggling with dyslexia were not being identified early enough in the reading education—until fourth grade in some cases—which created a need for significant remediation.

St. Lucie Public School District, Port St. Lucie, Florida

Challenge: St. Lucie Public Schools ranked near the bottom of 67 Florida school districts in overall performance and graduation rate. Administrators found the available data too general and cumbersome to create actionable interventions.

Dearborn City School District, Dearborn, Michigan

Challenge: The district wanted to establish a consistent and systematic process that would produce effective change in its 34 schools and ensure that all students grow and achieve.

The Education Decision Support Library RI Tool

Nearly 30 percent of students at Fairfax County Public Schools are eligible for free or reduced-price meals. So district leaders wanted to develop a dynamic enterprise tool to identify students in need of immediate intervention.

Pilot Intervention and Enrichment

The Ayersville Local Schools needed to change after receiving an F on the Gap Closing indicator, a component on all Ohio districts’ report cards for which they’re graded on closing equity academic achievement gaps.

Plan for Investments

In the 2015-16 school year, the School District of Philadelphia kicked off its Facilities Condition Assessment to determine the state of school grounds, athletic fields, and more than 300 school buildings and related building systems.

A comprehensive assessment hadn’t been completed since 2003-04. And for the first time, the data collected was made public.
