Large Virginia district adopts Follett solution

With the recent adoption by Fairfax County Public Schools, Follett’s Destiny solution is now in 23 of the 25 largest K12 school districts. The Virginia district selected Destiny Library Manager as an integrated library management system to support its 234 schools and centers.

With the recent adoption by Virginia’s Fairfax County Public Schools, Follett’s market-leading Destiny solution is now in 23 of the 25 largest K-12 school districts in the United States. Destiny’s flagship product, Destiny Library Manager, is the leading library management system for K-12 schools worldwide and trusted by more than 65,000 customers.

Fairfax County Public Schools, based in Falls Church, Va., selected Destiny Library Manager following an extensive search for an integrated library management system to support its 234 schools and centers. With 188,000 students, Fairfax is the 12th largest K-12 district in the country by enrollment, according to MDR Education data.

In the U.S., Destiny customers stretch from coast to coast, including:

  • New York City Department of Education
  • Philadelphia City School District
  • Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District
  • Miami-Dade County Public School District
  • Houston Independent School District
  • Clark County (Nev.) School District
  • Los Angeles Unified School District

Nader Qaimari said the key to Destiny’s longtime appeal, and what sets it apart from the competition, is its continual evolution to meet the current needs of educators and students, as well as its ability to connect the library and classroom, and stimulate collaboration.

“We’re always listening and adapting to what our customers need and request,” said Qaimari, president, Follett School Solutions. “We are experiencing great success with Collections by Destiny, which helps librarians, teachers, and curriculum staff create collaborative ways to share resources. Since Collections was unveiled, we’ve had more than 1 million users.”

The most recent Destiny addition is Classroom Ready Collections, which Qaimari noted are in response to Follett customers who wanted to grow and expand their standards-aligned instruction. Classroom Ready Collections include lesson plans, activities, videos, interactives, and worksheets that are easily searchable and discoverable within Destiny. The collections are another opportunity to share everything Destiny offers to support the classroom and instruction, Qaimari said.

Destiny Resource Manager is another popular solution in the Destiny family and helps districts and schools track and manage textbooks, band instruments, sports uniforms, technology, and much more.

The latest Destiny release—version 16.5—is due out in mid-December. For more information about Destiny, visit https://www.follettlearning.com/technology/products/library-management-system.
