Librarians are the greatest weapons against fake news
The votes are in. The people have spoken. And the winner of the 2016 Presidential Election is: fake news?
The concept of “fake news” has been widely discussed post-election: The New York Times, CNN, NPR, The Tennessean and many other (legitimate) news outlets have published articles regarding the phenomenon. Many believe that the dominance of fake news won the election for Donald Trump.
Let’s not forget that an election is never won or lost easily. There are many factors at play and each individual has unique reasons for their vote. However, we cannot deny that the issue of fake news and misinformation is a problem.
