Knox (Ind.) Community School Corp. will roll out Standard for Success' online, customizable educator evaluation software program in three schools in the fall. The program will help the district, which has 108 teachers, meet the requirements of the Indiana Department of Education’s stringent teacher and principal evaluation model.

The New Media Consortium opened enrollment for its free, online mini-course, “Applications of Social Media for STEMx Teaching,” which will take place on Facebook. The NMC is the first known education organization to offer a course that takes place exclusively on a Facebook community page.

More than 1,600 teachers have signed up for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg (N.C.) Schools summer teacher institute, which runs through June 28. Speakers include national technology innovators Rushton Hurley, a former teacher who has created a free library of educational videos, and Travis Allen, a college student who created the nonprofit iSchool Initiative to help teachers become digital learners.
