The University of Massachusetts-Amherst appointed Julie Buehler as vice chancellor of information services and strategy and chief information officer (CIO). Prior to this appointment, Buehler held several executive-level positions with the University of Rochester, including most recently, deputy CIO.

Columbus City Schools notified 13 secretaries at the district’s Northgate Center curriculum-development center yesterday that their positions will be eliminated by the start of the school year in August, the union president in charge of non-teaching employees confirmed.

Laguna Beach Unified School District (Calif.) board members unanimously approved Sean Colt as the district's new chief technology officer. Colt currently is the director of technology at Belmont-Redwood (Calif.) Shores School District, where he manages all of the district's information technology, including computer maintenance, internet access and computer hardware and software purchases.
