The School District of Osceola County chose The Rourke Reading Web– a program that includes both software and books with a focus on a student’s fluency and vocabulary development – as a reading intervention program to help ELLs who scored at level 1 on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) Reading and Science to improve their reading and science skills.

Over the past three months, Robertson and the other finalists had the exclusive opportunity to work directly with a 3M Scientist as they created their personal innovation as part of a summer mentorship program. The 3M Scientists provided guidance to the finalists as they developed their ideas from a theoretical concept into an actual prototype that would help solve a problem in everyday life.

With funding from donors, schools and MIND Research, the South LA Community Math Project will provide grants to approximately 20 high-need schools in the area to implement MIND Research’s blended learning ST Math program, which includes instructional software, teacher training and year-round educational support.

RelampIt’s Lamp Recycling Raffle runs October 14th through November 22th. To participate all are simply invited to recycle spent projector lamps. Send a minimum of 5 lamps to the RelampIt Recycling Center, which qualifies for one entry in the lamp recycling raffle.

The Safeboard, is made using Armormax, a protective material developed by IAC, that can withstand the firepower from a handgun to automatic weapons. Designed with discretion in mind, the Safeboard is designed to blend in with surroundings and can be incorporated into shelving units, whiteboards, doorways and other classroom elements

Guided by AASL’s “Empowering Learners: Guidelines for School Library Programs”, the NSLPY award seeks to reward and promote exemplary programs that empower learners to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers and ethical users of information. Each winning school library program will receive $10,000, plus a crystal statue.

Held at Grand Prairie High School and streamed live nationwide, the event featured both national and state education and business leaders, elected officials and students who discussed the challenges facing the next generation and the skills required to address them, as well as the critical role that digital learning plays in preparing Texas students to meet those challenges.

Four separate strategy sessions, comprised of some of the world’s leading experts, will take on issues relating to: parental choice, teacher quality and developing strong school leaders. On October 17-18, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education, will host the organization’s sixth annual marquee education event.

South Carolina Department of Education has selected Istation Reading to provide reading instruction for the South Carolina Success Program, a statewide educational initiative that provides all public and open-enrollment charter school students in grades pre-K through 8 with free and unlimited access to computer-adaptive reading lessons in school and at home.
