While the state works on a uniform playbook for AI in K12 schools, districts are making their own calls on everything from lesson plan use to cheating—creating a fast-evolving, erratic AI landscape across Connecticut schools.
About 1,000 Connecticut educators reported high stress, poor working conditions, low pay, student behavioral challenges and lack of support at the start of the new school year, a survey by the Connecticut Education Association found.
As of next fall, all students entering kindergarten must be 5 years old by Sept. 1, after a new state law moved the cutoff date up four months from Jan. 1. That means thousands of students with fall birthdays who would have been eligible to start school in 2024-25 will instead have to wait an additional year.
