Some New Orleans charter schools are sharing resources through a new district-run agency to improve special education services. Leaders say the partnership can lower costs and expand access to support and assistive technology.
People have strong feelings when it comes to New Orleans public schools. After Hurricane Katrina, the state took over most of the city’s schools and turned them into charter schools. Today, the system consists almost entirely of charter schools, except for one new direct-run school, and for a time was all-charter.
