Schools that are aggravated with the time, effort, and costs of replacing lamps should look at the new Laser & LED projectors from Casio, that provide large screen sizes, use less electricity, and need minimal maintenance (no lamps or filters), saving money that’s better used for classroom tools.

Putting technology into classrooms has been a focus for Gwinnett County Public Schools, located in a suburb of Atlanta, for decades. First it was using overhead or slide projectors, and later televisions. Before the district made the decision to add projectors to all classrooms, schools would buy a few on their own, but there was no standardization across schools. 

When the projectors throughout the Phoenix Union High School District were found to be outdated and inefficient in 2013, administrators knew they were due for an upgrade. “During a larger initiative to increase student engagement across the district, I noticed that the projectors we had were so old and were so dim that it was impacting classroom management and student engagement,” says Don Fournier, the district’s division manager of information services.

The suite of BrightLink projectors can be used on whiteboards, walls or other light-colored surfaces. Two users can interact with models simultaneously. Built-in annotation technology allows teachers and students to interact with a projected image from various devices, including PCs, tablets, Blu-ray players, VCRs and document cameras.

In the 21st-century classroom, K12 students are no longer practicing math equations at the chalkboard. Instead, math instruction has evolved into online and software-based programs that make learning interactive, challenging, and fun. With the rapid growth of high-definition color video and multimedia images for instructional applications in classrooms and schools, comparing the delivery quality of projectors is of pivotal importance. While the 3LCD company has long maintained the superiority of its three-chip projector design to deliver clear and vibrant color, until recently, there were no standardized ways to measure and compare color performance. Although school buyers could compare projector ratings by “white light output,” or brightness, rating color quality was a different story.
