The House voted Wednesday afternoon to give preliminary approval to H.483, a bill that would strengthen anti-discrimination measures, place a moratorium on new independent school approvals, and make it nearly impossible for independent schools to reject publicly tuitioned students.

Schools in Pennsylvania were the latest targeted by so-called swatting. Computer-generated calls on Wednesday made claims about active shooters, but it was all a hoax. One day earlier, nearly 30 Massachusetts schools received fake threats.

The school posted the video on Instagram on March 1, drawing comments about how cute the students are and how great their teacher is.

Gov. Ron DeSantis' new law would provide each student with an estimated $8,700 voucher. Experts wonder where the money to support this initiative will come from.
